New York Online Alcohol Bartender & Seller-Server Certification
In New York, responsible alcohol service training is voluntary. Mitigating benefit: The New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA) will consider training a mitigating factor if, at the time of violation, the person who committed the violation held a valid certificate of completion or renewal from a certified alcohol training awareness program provider and the licensee diligently implemented and complied with training program.

On Premise New York Alcohol Server Training
This course is approximately 3 hours in length provides alcohol sellers and servers with training on how to engage in safe and legal alcohol sales when the beverage will be consumed on the premises, and is approved by the New York State Liquor Authority.
ATAP (Alcohol Training Awareness Program)
The program focuses on the legal responsibilities of selling or delivering alcohol and provides training in practical skills to help licensees and their employees fulfill their legal responsibilities. Additionally, the ATAP program informs participants on the potential consequences of improper sale or delivery of alcohol. Licensees and individuals completing the ATAP program have the possibility of a limited affirmative defense in the event of an illegal alcohol sale to a minor.
This course provides you with all the necessary knowledge and techniques you need to be a responsible seller of alcohol. Specifically, you will learn: how to protect yourself and your establishment from liability; how alcohol affects your customers; how to recognize the effects of alcohol on your customers; how to prevent customers from becoming intoxicated; how to intervene when you need to refuse a sale to someone; how to prevent and deal with disturbances; how to accurately check IDs and recognize minors; how to prevent second-party sales and loitering and how to refuse a sale.
Although training is not mandatory, it can significantly reduce the risk and liability associated with alcohol service. Our certification provides a “reasonable efforts” defense against service violations and civil claims, and it may also reduce your insurance premium costs.

“Education is the first step and an essential element in maintaining compliance with the ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) Law. Over the years, the ATAP (Alcohol Training Awareness Program) program has proven successful in instructing servers on their responsibilities when selling alcohol, leading to fewer incidences of underage drinking and sales to intoxicated persons,” said State Liquor Authority Chairman Daniel B. Boyle.
“Offering ATAP (Alcohol Training Awareness Program) over the internet will significantly increase accessibility to the program, thus helping to educate more licensees and their employees statewide. I want to congratulate ESRTA (Empire State Restaurant & Tavern Association) for developing the first of its kind on-line ATAP program,” Boyle added.
