Vermont ASAP Alcohol Bartender & Seller-Server Certification

Vermont ASAP certification will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Students may log-in and log-out throughout the course as necessary. Although recommended, the course is not required to be completed in one sitting. At the end of the course, you will be prompted to take a final exam.

Mandatory State Regulations for Alcohol Servers in Vermont

(c) Each licensee shall ensure that every employee who is involved in the sale or serving of alcohol beverages completes a training program approved by the department of liquor control before the employee begins serving or selling alcoholic beverages and at least once every 24 months thereafter. Each licensee shall maintain written documentation, signed by each employee trained, of each training program conducted. A licensee may comply with this requirement by conducting its own training program on its premises, using information and materials furnished by the department of liquor control. A licensee who fails to comply with the requirements of this subsection shall be subject to a suspension of no less than one day of the license issued under this title. Vermont Dram Shop Laws: Yes
Servers of alcohol may be held civilly responsible for improperly serving alcohol. “Dram Shop Law” allows certain people who are injured to get money damages from the person who served the alcohol.

Education Regulation #3 applies to all servers of alcohol. The law requires that:

  • Liquor license applicants must be trained by a Liquor Control Investigator prior to a liquor license being issued and;
  • Every employee of the licensee who serves alcohol, including managers and owners must attend training prior to serving and once every two years thereafter.
  • If all employees are not trained the business will lose it’s liquor license for one day.
