OSHA has developed the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) program to protect the workers working at hazardous sites and devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. All of the following courses are OSHA compliant.

Who is covered by OSHA’s HAZWOPER standard?
The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This includes any employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances — including hazardous waste — and who are engaged in one of the following operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v):

  • clean-up operations — required by a governmental body, whether federal, state, local, or other involving hazardous substances — that are conducted at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  • corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) as amended (42 U.S.C. 6901 et seq.);
  • voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by federal, state, local, or other governmental body as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  • operations involving hazardous wastes that are conducted at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities regulated by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 264 and 265 pursuant to RCRA, or by agencies under agreement with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to implement RCRA regulations; and
  • emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances regardless of the location of the hazard.

This course meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 (eight) hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards. The course is comprised of nine sections covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, Site Characterization, Toxicology, Hazard Recognition, Personal Protective Equipment, Decontamination, Medical Surveillance, Confined Space Entry and Emergency Procedures. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.
HAZWOPER  24 Hour Course – 24 hours - $250.00

This course covers 24 hours of instruction, required by 29 CFR 1910.120(e) (3), OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response training standard. This course is designed for workers on site only occasionally for a specific limited task and who are unlikely to be exposed over permissible exposure limits and published limits OR workers regularly on site who work in areas which have been monitored and fully characterized indicating that exposures are under permissible exposure limits and published exposure limits, where respirators are not necessary, there are no health hazards or the possibility of an emergency developing.

This course is comprised of 14 sections, covering topics pertaining to work place hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.

HAZWOPER  40 Hour Course – 40 hours - $375.00

This course covers 40 hours of instruction required by 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3), OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response training standard. Its is designed for General site workers engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards.

This course is comprised of 25 sections, covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.

First Responder Awareness Level – 4 hours - $75.00

This course is designed for all employees who respond to a hazardous materials emergency. As per OSHA guidelines, these people must receive training based on their level of activities at the incident. This particular course is designed for those who are likely to respond to a hazardous materials emergency for the purpose of protecting person, property, or the environment from the effects of the release. OSHA regulations require a minimum of 8 hours training.

This course is designed for all employees who respond to a hazardous materials emergency. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 indicates that all employees who respond to a hazardous materials emergency must receive training based on their level of activities at the incident. Awareness-level training is for responders who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous materials release and will initiate a response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. Topics include defining hazardous materials, recognizing and identifying the presence of hazardous materials in an emergency, potential outcomes when hazardous materials are involved, use of basic information resources, and individual roles in an emergency situation. Awareness level responders recognize the presence of hazardous materials, isolate the scene and call for appropriate assistance. They do not participate in actual cleanup activities. The course covers the topics addressed in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.
